Douglas MacArthur was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on January 26, 1880. He was born on a military base, he was born into a very strong military family, both his father and father had served in the military and also his mother's two brothers. MacArthur graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1903. After graduating he served in both WWI and WWII. In WWII he was appointed the Commander of Allied Forces in the Pacific. After the war MacArthur was relieved of his position as Commander after he criticized president Harry Truman's actions toward the war. He was recalled to active duty in July of 1941 were he then was appointed Commander of the U.S. Forces in the Pacific. At the time he was recalled to active duty the Japanese had invaded the Philippines, in years to come MacArthur was successful in leading offensive operation against the Japanese. In 1950 When North Korea invaded South Korea, General Douglas MacArthur was then chosen to be in command of the United Nations forces. He helped to stop the attack and spread of communism, he led the Battle at Inchon in 1953, which helped immensely in the war, although he was not aware of the attacks by the Chinese and had to retreat soon after, General Douglas MacArthur later died on April 5, 1964.
